Publication of the AMPCPP – September 18, 2020 – International Cooperation
On Wednesday, September 18, 2020, the Board of the Moroccan Association of the Presidents of the Councils of Prefectures and Provinces received at 9:00 am at the headquarters of the Prefectural Council of Rabat, in the Wilaya of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, a delegation representing the National Association of Libyan Municipalities which visited Morocco at the invitation of the organization United Cities and Local Governments of Africa, as part of the promotion of exchanges and cooperation between African Local Collectivities, in terms of decentralization.
On this occasion, the President expressed the willingness of the Association to exchange successful experiences in the development and modernization of management mechanisms and territorial development.
On their side, representatives of the Libyan delegation, which included a group of Libyan Mayors, expressed their interest in Morocco’s experience in decentralization and their appreciation of the progress made by Morocco in this area, suggesting the establishment of a partnership agreement between the Moroccan Association of the Presidents of the Councils of Prefectures and Provinces and the National League of Libyan Municipalities.
This meeting served as a basis for a joint action between the two parties to prepare a cooperation and partnership project between the Association and the Libyan National League of Municipalities aiming to support bilateral cooperation, as well as to establish contacts with the Associations of Territorial Collectivities in other Maghreb countries, in order to develop the same project, in the hope to hold a meeting between all parties concerned as soon as possible.
